Rosacea is a common skin condition that affects around 15% of women in Ireland. It mostly appears in middle age, although it can begin before then.
Its symptoms can include flushing, redness, spots or thickened skin on the face. You may also suffer from eye problems such as dry eyes or sore eyelids.
While these symptoms rarely lead to anything more serious, rosacea remains an unsightly condition that you may understandably want to get rid of.
The good news is that there are safe and effective treatments for rosacea at Dundrum Clinic.
What causes rosacea?
The exact cause of rosacea is unknown, but it is partly hereditary, For example, women are much more at risk than men, especially if they’re over 30 with fair skin.
There are also a number of environmental factors which seem to trigger rosacea or make an existing condition worse. They include:
- Hot drinks
- Spicy food
- Sunlight or extreme temperatures
- Wind
- Strong emotions
- Cosmetics
- Drugs that dilate blood vessels, such as blood pressure medications
As a result, it’s recommended that people suffering from rosacea avoid these triggers as much as possible.

We will firstly carry out a full assessment of your condition. Based on this we will tailor a course of treatment to your needs. This normally includes treatment with advanced intense pulsed light (IPL) to reduce the distinctive redness of rosacea, in combination with corrective rosacea treatment products.
We use and recommend ZO Skin Health products, as these effectively relieve rosacea symptoms and help to normalise the skin.
One Rosacea treatment costs €160, whilst three treatments cost €420. A one-hour full face treatment is priced at €185. Why not arrange for a fully refundable €20 initial consultation with our trained practitioners, so that we can provide details about all the options available to you?
